Home Staging and Real Estate Professionals will meet in Chicago to discuss the exponential growth of the home staging business, industry trends and the state of the market at the fourth annual International Association of Home Staging Professionals (IAHSP) Symposium.

The IAHSP Symposium is held June 27-30 at Chicago’s Navy Pier, and considered the premier educational and networking event for the Home Staging Industry.

This year’s symposium includes a presentation by Jennifer Litomisky, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald Charities. The presentation will focus on how in the spirit of giving, StagedHomes.com and thousands of Accredited Staging Professionals (ASPs) will join together to “stage” Ronald McDonald Houses all over the world during the 2007 Worldwide Staging Service Week.

Keynote events of this year’s symposium will include a dynamic discussion on The Future of the Home Staging Industry by Barb Schwarz, creator of Home Staging and author of “Home Staging: The Winning Way to Sell Your Home for More Money,” “Building a Successful Home Staging Business” and “Speaking of Success,” with Ken Blanchard, Jack Canfield, and Stephen R. Covey.

Home Stagers and Real Estate Agents will receive a wealth of information through educational breakout sessions. Topics include national staging insurance programs, marketing strategy, business planning, team building and creative staging tips. Realtors, Home Staging Professionals and Senior Relocation Specialists all come together under one umbrella in a team approach to address the needs of the growing senior housing market. A new housing development is being planned for the community’s rising senior population.

On the east side of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, demand is high for affordable senior housing, said Gabriel Layman, general counsel for the Palmer Senior Citizens Center.

Layman said center officials plan to break ground in May or June on a 31-unit housing development on South Chugach Street, near the Palmer Veterans and Pioneer Home. If construction goes as planned, seniors may move in by early 2008, he said.

The apartment complex is part of a plan to build a senior campus on 11.1 acres the Senior Center owns. Layman said a new $6 million senior service facility is next on the list of construction projects. More space for housing, including an assisted living facility and commercial space for shops that cater to seniors are also planned.

“This is just the first step in the long process of creating an integrated senior community here in Palmer,” Layman said. “It’s going to have serious ramifications for seniors here in the Mat-Su for quite a long time.”
